In order to provide proper maintainence for your clock, it is recommended that an experienced technician is hired. You want to make sure the movement is cleaned and oiled correctly or damage can occur to the movement.

Old oil with dirt deposits in it is an abrasive material and will wear down the soft brass parts destroying the movement if it is not cleaned properly.

Your movement is made of brass which is a soft metal. The pivot holes in the movement can become worn out easily by the dust and old oil. When we come to your home or office to service your grandfather clock, we always REMOVE the movement from your clock. By removing the movement we are able to get to the front, back and inside of the movement to remove most of the old dirty oil and to adequately re-oil the movement.
